I'm sad and now I have nothing to distract me from work. I'm sad, *crys* Comment! (3) | Recommend! new family Monday. 11.27.06 1:59 am Well it's been awhile since I've posted last. I've been horribly busy, so fun has been non-existant. Major news: I've met my Zehner family. Sisters: Rachel and Haely Cousin: Bryan Aunt: Sharon Uncle: Jeff Nephews: Coby, Taylor and Celeb Niece: Gabby And the one person who I was the most nervous at meeting was: my father. I grew up with my mother and I never met my father cause we left when I was six months old. So meeting him was a big deal cause I didn't even think about meeting him until I learned of Rachel and Haely. All in all the visit went rather well. I'm still like...uhh... I want to go back and visit longer but I dunno when that's going to happen. Between work and School I have no time what-so-ever. Comment! (4) | Recommend! My head hurts Wednesday. 11.15.06 2:15 pm well I went to the doctor's today and found out that I have an ear infection. Blagh...and I still haven't gotten over my cold from a month ago. I also can't believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner as well as my manager position... *small smile* That's right manager position. I've been at Donatos for three months, I'm twenty and I have a shift manager position...I'm so excited!! My first training day is on Friday and I'm excited! I can't wait. WOOT!! Comment! I am passing my classes this semester...besides two. I did really well on my feature article...gots a B!! Though some great information: I have to older half sisters that I didn't know about and I'm going to meet them after Thanksgiving! I'm excited. Though as I have said before, I'm excited, nauseous but excited!! Comment! (3) | Recommend! Well I was bit in the ass today Monday. 11.6.06 2:54 am I have come to the conclusion that I cannot assume anything any longer...I can no longer think that I will die an unkissed virgin with my four dogs and eight cats...even though that is a very strong possibility. Or that I will never get published, out of school or pass my college years with a 3.2 gpa. But that life can an will surprise me. For example: I have two sisters. That's nothing strange for me cause currently I have four but these two are special. They are my half sisters and I never knew about them... I'm not saying that my mom hid this from me but I did not want to know anything about my father or his family when she thought I was ready. I now have nieces and nephews and I'm the aunt that I thought growing up that I would never be. And I'm excited, nervous, kinda sick, but excited. Comment! (2) | Recommend! Article For Journalism OCTOBER, TIMES FOR FUN AND TIMES FOR LEARNING By: Elizabeth Zehner October has been known for many events, Halloween, All Saints’ Night, All Souls’ Night, All Hallows Eve, Samhaim, Mischief Night, and finally the month of the Blood Moon. But there is one very important meaning to October, it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It has been said by the American Cancer Society (ACS) that, “1 in 8 women will get breast cancer in her lifetime.” This is a relatively small number in my family I have eight female relatives and anyone of us can be diagnosed. Many sites and organizations have been created in order to face this epidemic on the female gender. Nbcam, the American Cancer Society, Breast cancer awareness month and every doctor has knowledge and understanding. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is a site dedicated to informing the world of the danger of breast cancer, “reaching out to women with several key messages, most notably, the importance of early detection through annual mammography screening for women over 40, or earlier for women at increased risk. (Nbcam.com)” Nbcam is doing its part and the breast cancer site, thebreastcancersite.com is another major contributor to the cause. It has informed the world of the cause just as others but it goes a step further, “since its launch in October 2000, the site has established itself as a clear leader in online activism and in the fight to prevent breast cancer deaths. (thebreastcancersite.com)” It raises money to give free mammograms for women who otherwise would have not been able to afford one. I know personally the great responsibility of yearly mammograms. My mother went in for her yearly and a lump was found in her left breast. For two weeks she kept this information from her family. Fearing the worse and when she finally broke down and told us, we were frightened. I was worried and stressed because my mother is my only parent and a large part of my life. Knowing the fear is an eye opener. Breast cancer goes from being a big fear of knowing it exists but thinking all the while it won’t happen to me. But it did and it does. Please consider your life and the life of those you love. Get a mammogram. Protect your breast.
